About this dive site
This dive site, known as EN1, is a unique location in Tofo, Mozambique. It’s the only reef in the area where currents are strongly influenced by the tides, making it accessible primarily during slack high tide. The site's name originates from the main road that runs through the region, resembling a brick-lined pathway formed by the scattered rock formations. These low-lying rocks provide shelter for numerous cryptic species of Tofo’s marine life, including crocodile fish, scorpionfish, stonefish, torpedo rays, and flounders. However, EN1 is most celebrated for its honeycomb whipray; this remarkable ray features a distinctive honeycomb pattern on its dorsal surface and boasts a tail that can extend nearly three times the width of its disc – reaching up to 5 meters in length. The site offers a chance to observe these fascinating creatures amidst a rocky environment.
