About this dive site
This dive site, Bergse Diepsluis, is located in a tributary of The Oosterschelde and offers a relatively gentle diving experience. It's considered less challenging than other sites in the area due to minimal tidal currents, creating an ideal environment for breeding cuttlefish and squid. The underwater landscape is rich with colorful anemones, crustaceans, and various invertebrates—a constant sight year-round. Spring represents the best time of year to observe cuttlefish, particularly when the water temperature reaches 12°C (53°F). Maximum depth at Bergse Diepsluis is 19 meters (62 feet), while average visibility is approximately 4 meters (13 feet).
