About this dive site
This dive site, known as Hamburger, is located on the east side of an unnamed island in Oman. The dive starts shallow, at 5-6 meters, gradually descending to a maximum depth of 18 meters. The seabed is a fascinating mix of sand, pebbles, and large boulders, all richly covered in beautiful corals, creating a diverse and visually appealing underwater landscape. Navigation is straightforward, with a gentle slope leading to the deeper sections. There is no known specific history or story behind the naming of this dive site.
Marine life is abundant. Many types of hard and soft corals provide habitat for a variety of reef fish. With luck, divers can encounter larger creatures such as stingrays and eagle rays. The diverse coral formations attract a wide array of smaller reef inhabitants, making it a great spot for macro photography.
The best time to visit is likely during the warmer months (October-May) when the water is clear and calmer. Visibility is generally good, making it an ideal location for both scuba diving and freediving. Divers and freedivers should be aware of the varying seabed texture and take care to avoid bumping into rocks. It is recommended to maintain buoyancy control, especially around the coral formations.
