About this dive site

This dive site is located at Jissah Point near Muscat, Oman, offering a relatively shallow and easy dive suitable for beginners. The dive starts from a marina and gently slopes downwards towards Shangri-La Resort, making for straightforward navigation. The site is characterized by a varied underwater landscape featuring rocky outcrops covered in vibrant soft corals and a sandy bottom.

Marine life is abundant at Jissah Point. Divers can expect to encounter schools of snappers, big-eye barracuda, and striped eel catfish. Larger creatures such as turtles, cuttlefish, and majestic stingrays (including the fantail and jenkins varieties) are also seen, though sightings may be occasional. The soft corals themselves provide habitat for numerous smaller invertebrates and fish.

The best time to visit Jissah Point is during the cooler months (October to May) when the water is clearer and calmer. It's recommended to dive early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the strong midday sun. This dive site is ideal for both snorkeling and freediving due to its shallow depth and good visibility. Divers should check weather conditions and current strength before entering the water, although currents are usually mild in this sheltered location. Be mindful of the potential for boat traffic given its proximity to the marina.
