This dive site, known as Alona Reef, features the Hagabat Wreck (or Bohol Divers Wreck). Divers typically begin with a descent down a line near a wall, traversing a slope. While the site's stated maximum recreational depth is 18 meters with an average of 9 meters for general diving, the wreck itself is known to sit deeper, with its top at 28 meters and bow at 37 meters, offering an intriguing descent into its historical depths for advanced divers.
The marine life encountered here is rich and varied, including schools of sweetlips, fast-moving tuna, camouflaged frogfish, and impressive huge lionfish. These species contribute to a vibrant ecosystem around the reef and wreck structure, providing excellent opportunities for underwater photography.
Alona Reef is considered a lovely dive, suitable for divers comfortable with moderate depths and wreck exploration (within their certification limits). The best time to visit aligns with Bohol's dry season (typically November to May) for optimal visibility. Freedivers can explore the shallower reef and upper sections of the wall, while scuba divers can delve deeper towards the wreck.
