About this dive site

This dive site, Caceres South, offers a remarkable underwater experience on the south side of the Caceres Reef. The dive typically begins near an overhang of a cliff, providing an interesting topographical feature. The reef slope's deeper sections are notably pristine and untouched by fishing activities, ensuring a healthy and vibrant ecosystem.

The marine life here is exceptionally rich, featuring an abundance of soft corals covering the overhangs and reef. Divers can expect to encounter a variety of fascinating creatures including Frogfish, Ghostpipes, Anemones, and Lizardfish. Schools of Batfish and Fusiliers are common, and for those fortunate to dive during calm conditions, there's a chance of spotting majestic whale sharks passing by.

The best time to visit Caceres South is when the waters are calm, increasing the chances of whale shark sightings. This site is excellent for both macro photography, with its diverse small creatures, and wide-angle photography, capturing the extensive soft corals and schools of fish. It's suitable for divers of all levels, with its accessible shallower parts and rewarding deeper sections.
