About this dive site

This dive site is located in a sheltered bay, the Silveria swimming zone, near Angra do Heroismo. Protected by Monte Brasil, an extinct volcano, it offers a unique diving experience. The area presents a diverse underwater landscape, transitioning from shallow rocky areas teeming with fish and other marine life to progressively deeper sandy expanses. Arraia Reef is renowned for its rich biodiversity throughout the year, boasting numerous wrasse species, three types of rays, three moray eel varieties, octopuses, and large schools of fish during summer months. Nudibranchs are also frequently observed. The site’s proximity to the dive operator's base—just 20 meters away—makes it an ideal location for beginners to gain experience with equipment and explore the local marine environment. Common species sighted include the Common Octopus, Black-faced blenny, Mediterranean Moray, Wide-eyed Flounder, Blue Damselfish, Grey Triggerfish, and Roughtail Stingray.
