About this dive site

This dive site presents the Lidador, a British steamboat that serves as part of the Archaeological Subaquatic Park of Angra do Heroismo Bay, located on the south side of Terceria. Built in London in 1873 and sailing between Portugal and Brazil, the ship carried passengers and cargo throughout the Azorean archipelago. A significant event occurred on February 6th, 1878, when the Lidador struck a shoal opposite Sao Sebastian Fortress, causing substantial hull damage. The vessel drifted westward before grounding near Cais da Figuerinha at approximately 8 meters depth, roughly 50 meters from the coast. This wreck offers an intriguing dive experience for those interested in maritime history and underwater archaeology.
