About this dive site

This dive site, Paredes do Cabo, is located near the Cabo Espichel cliff in Portugal and features the remains of the River Gurara wreck. The wreck lies at a depth of approximately 12-15 meters, with the stern section situated about 100 meters to the south. Divers can explore the scattered sections of the wreck, which has become a haven for marine life. Navigation is relatively straightforward, following the wall and the wreck's debris field.

The site is rich in marine life. Divers can expect to see cuttlefish, red mullets, and seabreams, all taking advantage of the shelter offered by the wreck and the surrounding structure. Other species commonly found in the area may also be present depending on the season.

The best time to visit is during the warmer months (spring and summer) when visibility is typically better, and water temperatures are more comfortable. For freedivers, the moderate depths and generally mild currents make this a suitable location for breath-hold dives, but always check current conditions beforehand. Divers should be aware of the depth, potential for mild currents, and remember proper buoyancy control when exploring the wreck.
