About this dive site

This dive site, Aride Bank, is located north of Praslin Island in the Seychelles, approximately a 30-35 minute boat ride away. The underwater topography is characterized by submerged granitic rocks creating diverse formations and swim-throughs. Navigation is relatively straightforward, following the contours of the rocks, but paying attention to the currents is important.

Marine life is abundant, with sightings of whitetip reef sharks, nurse sharks, grey reef sharks, and Napoleon wrasse being common. A variety of reef fish inhabit the area, alongside colorful corals and smaller invertebrates. The visibility often allows for excellent underwater photography opportunities, both macro and wide-angle.

The best time to visit Aride Bank is generally during the dry season (May to October), when the water is clearer and the currents are typically milder. However, even during the wet season, the diving can still be good, with the added potential for increased plankton blooms that may attract larger marine life. For freediving, careful planning regarding current conditions is essential, and divers/freedivers should always practice safe diving procedures, maintain awareness of the depth and always dive with a buddy.
