About this dive site

This dive site offers a unique underwater experience centered around a recently created artificial reef. In November 2013, the Junta de Andalucía established a series of concrete blocks designed to foster marine life and establish a productive habitat. These structures form an intricate network, providing shelter for various fish species. The area is teeming with life, including schools of dogfish and three-spined lobsters – found exclusively here. You’ll also encounter Mojarras (Spanish mackerel), castañuelas (lipote), and Boop boops forming shoals along the blocks or in midwater. Closer inspection reveals several congrios (Conger eel), notably a large specimen, alongside abundant hermit crabs, tube worms, gorgonian corals, and the distinctive fellimari picta nudibranch. Various species of rockfish, such as Scorpaena nonata (red lionfish) and Rascacios or Cabrachos (spinecheek wrasse), are also present. The maximum depth is 25 meters, making it suitable for intermediate divers. The site’s creation has significantly boosted biodiversity.
