About this dive site
This dive site, known as Cala Cerrada, is located 20 minutes by boat from the coast, sheltered by impressive cliffs. It’s a privileged enclave of the coastline, offering exceptionally beautiful marine bottoms thanks to clear waters and sunlight. The natural configuration of the coast, combined with protection from rocks and mountains, creates calm waters ideal for training, courses, and introductory dives. Within the cove, at depths up to 14 meters, you'll find an extensive Posidonia oceanica meadow – a sign of excellent water quality and providing refuge for local fauna, including uncommon species like the red mullet (Pez de San Pedro) and seahorses. Further out from the cove, depths reach 30 meters; on the westward-facing slope, at approximately 22 meters, you can discover the remains of a small sunken boat, typically inhabited by conger eels and groupers. Following the wall’s profile, a large rock stands out, teeming with diverse marine life and often hosting a sizable grouper. Scattered across the seabed are piled rocks – remnants of landslides and coastal shaping – notable for their contrasting light and shadow effects. The waters support various species such as brittle stars, sea urchins, Sargassum seaweed, hydroids, barracudas, etc. Large congers, groupers, and mero (rays) also reside in deeper areas. At the cove’s center, at about 6 meters, you'll find a red marble monolith, erected on June 28th, 2008, to commemorate victims of Spanish terrorism.
