About this dive site
This dive site is located in the walls of Cabo Tiñoso, between Muellecico and Cabo Falón, considered one of the best dives in the area. Situated 6 miles from base, approximately a 20-minute boat ride, it rises above a peculiar formation beneath which lies a rocky massif extending perpendicularly to the cliff face, delving into the sea towards the south. Below the stone arch that gives the area its name, where depths range from 5 to 8 meters, the descent begins. Heading south, away from the wall, we ascend to a depth of 4 meters, initiating a gradual decline to the sandy seabed at 37 meters. The waters are remarkably clear and well-oxygenated, fostering a vibrant marine ecosystem characterized by abundant species. You can expect to encounter diverse Mediterranean fauna and flora, including large schools of Sargos, groupers, barracudas, congers, triggerfish, and various invertebrates like nudibranchs and sea snails. Occasionally, you might spot moonfish, scorpionfish, and eagle rays. This dive is suitable for all levels, with difficulty varying depending on depth and location within the site. The maximum depth reached is 40 meters. Anchoring is possible above the rocky area or utilizing pre-established mooring buoys on the westward side of the reef, where a descent can be made via a buoy approximately 15 meters deep, resting on a rocky and sandy bottom, featuring calcareous algae intertwined with Posidonia seagrass. After exploring this area, returning to the buoy and completing the dive, you can pass beneath the arch, enjoying the clarity of the water, shadows, and contrasting light.
