About this dive site

This dive site is El Puertito, a sheltered bay in Tenerife, Spain, ideal for novice divers and training exercises due to its calm waters and shallow depths. Navigation is straightforward; the sandy bottom is relatively flat and easy to explore. There's no known specific history or story behind the site, other than its reputation as a convenient and safe location for learning to dive.

The sandy bottom is home to diverse marine life, including cuttlefish, seahorses, lizard fish, spider crabs, red mullet, and wide-eyed flounder. Extensive seagrass meadows provide a rich habitat for many of these species, offering plenty of opportunity for close-up observations and photography.

The best time to visit is likely during the warmer months (spring and summer), when visibility is typically better and the water is warmer. For freedivers, the calm conditions and shallow depths make it a very accessible and comfortable dive. Divers should pay attention to the local conditions and visibility and should avoid diving during periods of bad weather.
