This dive site, known as Es Pallaret or The Haystack, is located approximately 600 meters north of Torre d’en Rovira. It's an isolated, cone-shaped rock formation, with a prominent shoulder on its western side. Divers typically descend on the southwest corner, where a large rock rises to a shallow point of 6 meters. Its distinct shape and isolation from the coast contribute to its rich biodiversity and make it easy to navigate by swimming around at various depths, ranging from 10 to 28 meters.
The Haystack is renowned for its abundant marine life. In the open blue, divers can frequently spot schools of Barracuda, Denton, and Sargs. Closer to the rock's cracks and crevices, a variety of creatures thrive, including Moray eels, Groupers, and Octopuses, providing excellent opportunities for both wide-angle and macro observations.
The best time to visit Es Pallaret for diving and freediving is generally from late spring to early autumn (May to October), when water temperatures are warmer and conditions are typically calmer, offering the best visibility. Its relatively shallow sections also make it a great spot for freedivers and snorkelers, while deeper areas cater to scuba divers seeking more extended exploration of its vibrant ecosystem. It’s a rewarding site for divers of all experience levels.
