About this dive site

This dive site is La Plataforma, an artificial reef in the form of a rectangular platform off the coast of Menorca, Spain. It served as a construction platform for the Cala’n Bosch marina and now provides a fascinating habitat for marine life. The platform itself is approximately 3m high, 25m long, and 15m wide, creating a unique underwater landscape to explore. Navigation is straightforward; the platform is the main point of interest.

The platform is home to a variety of species, including schools of fish, large-scaled scorpionfish, forkbeards, moray eels, groupers, greater amberjacks, hermit crabs, and occasional sightings of common eagle rays. This makes it a good location for observing both smaller and larger marine life.

The best time to visit La Plataforma is likely during the warmer months (spring and summer) when visibility is generally better and the water temperature is more comfortable. Divers should be aware of potential moderate currents and the depth of the site (maximum 32 meters). Due to the depth, this is not a suitable dive for beginners and freediving is not recommended.
