About this dive site
This dive site features the wrecks of two fishing boats, the Arigansa and the Ceremona, lying at approximately 19 meters in front of the port of Mogán. The wrecks are relatively close together, making for an interesting exploration. Divers can navigate around both wrecks, paying attention to potential entanglement hazards within the structures. The history of the wrecks themselves might be accessible locally through the port authority or local dive shops, adding a historical layer to the dive.
Marine life observed includes a variety of fish species seeking shelter within and around the wrecks. The Arigansa is home to one of the few gorgonians found in the south of Gran Canaria, highlighting the unique biodiversity of this site. Divers can also expect to see numerous species under the bow of the Ceremona. Expect to see various smaller invertebrates and fish as well.
The best time to visit is likely during the warmer months (spring and summer) when visibility is typically better and water temperatures are more comfortable. While generally calmer, divers should always check local weather reports and current conditions before diving, as even mild currents can affect the dive. This site is not suitable for snorkeling or freediving due to its depth.
