About this dive site

This dive site, known as The Needle, is located on the southwest side of Es Vedrà, a dramatic island off the coast of Ibiza. It's a fascinating underwater pinnacle rising from a depth of approximately 36 meters to a minimum of 5 meters, offering a diverse range of depths to explore. The dive typically starts at the shallower end, allowing for a gradual descent, before exploring the deeper portions of the site. Navigating requires attention to depth and the potentially changing currents around Es Vedrà.

The marine life at The Needle is remarkably varied. Divers can expect to encounter lobsters, groupers, barracudas, large scorpionfish, and a variety of sponges and anemone colonies. The rocky structure provides many crevices and hiding places for smaller creatures, offering excellent opportunities for macro photography.

The best time to visit The Needle is during the warmer months, from May to October, when visibility is generally best, and the water temperature is more pleasant. Divers should always check local weather and sea conditions before venturing out and be prepared for moderate currents. While the site is not suitable for snorkeling or freediving due to its depth and potential currents, for experienced scuba divers, The Needle offers a thrilling and rewarding diving experience.
