About this dive site

This dive site, Junkyard Reef, was created by ECO Koh Tao, a local conservation organization. The reef is an artificial structure built using discarded materials suitable for creating an underwater habitat. It’s designed to provide shelter and attract marine life. Junkyard Reef has proven remarkably successful in fostering a diverse ecosystem, already hosting numerous reef fish species. Notable residents include Juvenile Harlequin Sweetlips, Saddleback Anemonefish, Masked Porcupine Pufferfish, and the rare Strapweed Filefish. It represents an innovative approach to coral reef restoration.
