About this dive site

This dive site is the SG115, a former coast guard ship intentionally sunk in 2007 by BOSAD to create an artificial reef near Black Island in Türkiye. The wreck sits in approximately 10-20 meters of water, with the stern shallower than the bow. Navigating the site is relatively straightforward, following the wreck's structure. The history of the site is that of a purposeful creation for enhancing marine life and providing a dive site.

Marine life around the SG115 wreck is diverse and abundant. You can expect to see groupers, jackfish, barracudas (depending on the season), and squid (especially their eggs on the mast). The presence of Neptune grass nearby suggests other smaller organisms may also be found in the surrounding area.

The best time to visit is likely during the warmer months (spring/summer/autumn) when visibility is typically better and more diverse marine life is present. Divers should be aware of potential moderate currents, especially at deeper parts of the site. Freediving may be challenging due to the depth and potential currents, thus scuba diving is recommended. The site is generally suitable for intermediate divers.
