About this dive site

This dive site is the TCG Pinar-1, a former Turkish Navy Coastguard water carrier intentionally sunk in 2007 by BOSAD (Bodrum Sualtı Derneği) to create an artificial reef. The wreck lies at a depth ranging from 20 to 30 meters, with the stern being the deepest point. Divers should navigate carefully around the wreck, maintaining buoyancy control to avoid damaging the structure or disturbing the marine life. The ship is relatively intact, providing plenty of opportunities for exploration both inside and outside the hull.

The wreck is teeming with marine life, particularly smaller creatures that have colonized the ship’s hull. Divers can expect to see numerous nudibranchs in a variety of colors and species, along with tube worms and squid eggs. Various fish species typical to the Aegean Sea will also be present, seeking shelter and feeding within and around the wreck's structure.

The best time to visit is during the warmer months (May to October) when the water is clearer and warmer, making for more comfortable diving conditions. Visibility can vary, so checking local conditions before your dive is recommended. Due to the depth and potential currents, this dive is not suitable for snorkeling or freediving. Experienced divers should be comfortable navigating in moderate currents and around potentially obstructed areas.
