About this dive site

This dive site, known as Devil’s Den, offers a unique and fascinating underwater experience. The water temperature remains consistently 22°C (72°F) year-round due to its location within a karst fenster—a subterranean river system. This geological formation creates a 'window' through which steam rises on cold mornings, giving the site its name. Divers can explore swim-throughs and ancient rock formations dating back 33 million years, including fossil beds containing remains of camels, dire wolves, mastodons, and saber-toothed cats. The water is exceptionally clear, reaching a maximum depth of 15 meters (50 feet), with stunning sunbeams illuminating the area. Visitors can enjoy camping facilities, including RV and tent spaces, as well as four on-site cabins for rental. You’ll encounter a variety of fish like guppies, crappies, and catfish, along with turtles. It's an extraordinary location combining geology, paleontology, and marine life.
