About this dive site

This dive site offers a unique opportunity to explore the wreck of the Mandy Ray, a 126-foot long vessel that sank in October 1998 off Shinnecock Inlet. Located just a few miles from shore, the wreck now serves as an artificial reef and provides habitat for a diverse array of marine life. The ship sits upright and is largely intact, presenting a compelling sight as divers descend. A portion of the superstructure reaches approximately 45 feet below the surface. It’s considered relatively new to the underwater environment, promising continued growth in its resident population of aquatic species. This location carries an important memorial aspect – it honors the owners of the dive boat Jean Marie, Ken and Jean Marie Jastrzebski, who tragically lost their lives in a car accident in 2005.
