About this dive site

This dive site, known as Second Cathedral, is located off the coast of Maui. It's distinguished not by its beauty, but as the second cavern encountered when traveling by boat from shore. Divers descend to a spectacular pinnacle surrounded by clear water. Following their guide, they’ll pass schools of fish and large moray eels, exploring healthy coral formations before reaching the entrance to the cathedral. Inside, they navigate towards a central hall where an instructor uses a torch to illuminate colorful sponges, unique psychedelic nudibranchs, and other small marine life. A rare black coral formation hangs like a chandelier from the ceiling within a side chamber. Further exploration leads through a lava shoot, accompanied by bandit angelfish, around the cave’s exterior, and back into a shallower opening.
