About this dive site

Dive into history on the Star of Russia, a magnificent 90-meter long, square-rigged sailing ship built in the early 1800s by Harland and Wolf, the same builders as the Titanic. This grand vessel now sits upright on a sandy bottom in 34 meters of water in Port Vila Harbour. The wooden decking has perished over time, allowing divers easy and safe access to penetrate the hull and explore its different levels. The wreck is a haven for marine life; schools of fish circle inside, batfish hang around the mooring line, and crocodile fish can often be spotted on the beams. As a deep wreck, it is best suited for experienced divers looking for a unique historical dive.
