About this dive site
Ilha da Ancora is a renowned dive site in Brazil, recognized as one of the best islands to explore and relatively untouched by divers. Located near Armação dos Búzios, Rio de Janeiro, it’s accessible via a one-hour boat trip. The island boasts crystal-clear blue waters with an average visibility of 15 to 20 meters, fostering a thriving marine ecosystem. It's a consistently surprising location for its visitors. Guided dives offer experiences like exploring coral reefs and swimming through vibrant tropical fish shoals. Divers can also investigate small caves or observe green sea turtles and pufferfish resting on the coral. A particularly challenging dive is Ponta Leste, suitable for experienced divers with strong buoyancy control skills. The dive begins along a rocky wall at 12 meters, descending to a ledge, followed by a passage (mini-cave) approximately 24 meters deep before returning towards the boat. You'll encounter numerous yellow and white striped cleaner fish (Salemas) during your exploration.
