About this dive site

This dive site presents the Sht-211 submarine, a significant wreck located in Varna Bay, Bulgaria. The submarine was lost during its last military campaign in November 1941 and rediscovered by sea snail hunters in 2000. It’s become one of the most popular wreck dives along the Black Sea coast. The Sht-211 rests at a depth of approximately 24 meters, about 8 miles southeast of Varna harbor. The bow section is believed to have been damaged by an explosion and lies only a few meters away from the main structure. Exploring the submarine typically requires one dive, given its relatively small size – measuring 58.8 meters in length, 6.2 meters in width, and 4.0 meters in height. While no specific training is required for this dive, due to the depth and potential for reduced visibility and low water temperatures, divers should possess an Advanced Open Water Diver certificate and experience in similar conditions is recommended. The wreck is known for its accessibility, making it a rewarding experience for experienced divers.
