About this dive site
This dive site, known as "Secret Garden," is located approximately 35 minutes northeast of Porto Novo, Cabo Verde. It's characterized by a gently sloping sandy bottom with a rocky area to the right. Navigation is straightforward, following the sandy slope and exploring the rocky outcrops. The site's name suggests a hidden gem, offering a secluded and peaceful diving experience.
The marine life here is diverse and abundant. Divers can expect to encounter a wide variety of fish, including amberjacks, groupers, scorpionfish, moray eels, lobsters, doctorfish, frogfish, parrotfish, trumpetfish, and nudibranchs. The isolated rock formation at the end of the dive is often home to turtles. Occasional sightings of oceanic sharks and manta rays add to the excitement.
The best time to visit Secret Garden is likely during the dry season (October to May), when visibility is typically better and conditions are calmer. For freedivers, the gentle slope makes it suitable, but care should be taken regarding depth and potential currents. Divers should check local conditions and tide before entering the water.
