About this dive site

This dive site, known as Little House, has a fascinating history. It’s named after a small house once used by East End captains for navigation before mooring balls were installed. The area is notable for its unique underwater topography – often described as ‘Swiss cheese,’ featuring numerous tunnels and swim-throughs connecting to an open reef south of the site. Divers can experience a feeling of exploration as they navigate these interconnected passages beneath a boat. Keep an eye out for Black Bar Soldierfish, frequently observed nestled in the reef’s nooks; many individuals are adorned with isopod headgear—tiny crustaceans hitching rides on their hosts and feeding off their scraps. The site is particularly rewarding during coral spawning season each fall, with impressive formations of Lobed Star Coral and Mountainous Star Coral providing a stunning backdrop. These corals build over centuries through the efforts of tiny polyps, showcasing nature’s patient craftsmanship. It's a truly humbling experience to witness this slow but remarkable process.
