About this dive site

This dive site, Sha’ab Claudio, is located in the Fury Shoals of the Red Sea, known for its vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life. The site consists of two main reefs, with the southern reef featuring two impressive, partially open caves in shallow water. Navigation is relatively straightforward, with the reefs clearly visible, making it suitable for divers of intermediate skill level. The caves offer a unique experience but require careful navigation due to potential reduced visibility inside.

The marine life is abundant and varied, showcasing a healthy coral reef ecosystem. Divers can expect to see blue spotted stingrays, anthias, scorpionfish, whitetip reef sharks, clownfish (Nemo), nudibranchs, lionfish, and moray eels. The reef itself is teeming with various other reef fish and invertebrates. The caves might harbor additional species that seek shelter in their shadowed depths.

The best time to visit is during the warmer months, from April to October, when water temperatures are pleasant and visibility is at its best. Stronger currents are more likely during this period. For freediving, the shallower depths of the caves and reefs are ideal, but caution is advised due to the potential for moderate currents. Divers should check the weather forecast and current conditions before entering the water.
