This dive site, Shaab Sakara, is a charming small reef located in the Egyptian Red Sea, easily accessible via a short day boat trip. Divers navigate over a sandy bottom that reaches a maximum depth of 17 meters, leading to abundant coral formations. The reef features a notable, huge coral garden on its western side and offers a pleasant, straightforward dive experience suitable for all skill levels.
The marine life here is diverse, including bluespotted stingrays resting on the sandy bottom, vibrant Nemo (clownfish) among anemones, and a variety of reef fish such as pufferfish, parrotfish, doctorfish, lionfish, and moray eels. Scorpionfish are also present, blending into the coral environment. The site is rich in both fair and extensive coral gardens, supporting a healthy ecosystem.
The best time to visit Shaab Sakara is generally during the warmer months, offering excellent conditions for both divers and freedivers due to its shallow average depth and clear waters. Highlights include exploring the vast coral garden on the west side and observing the varied resident reef fish. Its calm and relatively shallow nature makes it highly recommended for beginner divers and underwater photographers focusing on macro and wide-angle reef scenes.
