About this dive site

This dive site, Punta Battistoni, near Baia Sardinia, offers an accessible and relaxing dive experience ideal for beginners or divers seeking a refresher. The dive starts directly from the shore, allowing ample time to acclimatize to the underwater environment. The relatively shallow depth (maximum 13 meters) makes it a comfortable and stress-free dive. The presence of an air bell at 12m depth offers a fascinating artificial structure that is not often seen while diving.

The marine life is diverse, although not abundant in large pelagic species. You can expect to see various species of fish commonly found in the Mediterranean Sea, alongside seagrass beds (Posidonia) that are rich in smaller invertebrates. The seabed, a mixture of sand and Posidonia, is also scattered with fragments of Roman amphorae, some even serving as homes for octopuses, adding a touch of history and intrigue to the dive.

The best time to visit is during the summer months (June to September) when the water is warmest and the visibility is at its best. For freedivers, the shallow depth and clear water provide excellent conditions for shorter dives. Divers should check weather conditions and be mindful of possible changes in visibility due to currents and water clarity. The site is easily accessible for both snorkeling and freediving.
