About this dive site
This dive site is the wreck of the Rozi, a tugboat scuttled in 1992 to create an artificial reef and underwater attraction. The wreck sits upright on a sandy bottom, starting at around 20 meters and extending down to 30-35 meters. The mast is visible at approximately 20 meters, serving as a navigation point. Divers should approach the wreck cautiously, maintaining a safe distance from the structure to avoid damage and potential entanglement. The wreck itself offers a variety of exploration opportunities, including penetration into the interior (if experience and qualifications allow).
The marine life around and within the Rozi is abundant and varied. Divers can expect to encounter Mediterranean sea bream, stingrays, moray eels, grouper, common octopus, cuttlefish, red starfish, and damselfish, among other reef fish. The wreck itself provides a habitat for many species, drawing them to the area. The sandy bottom surrounding the wreck may also hold smaller creatures and invertebrates.
The best time to visit Rozi is during the warmer months (May to October) when water temperatures are more comfortable and visibility is typically better. Divers should be aware of potential currents, which can be mild to moderate, particularly at depth. Experienced divers may enjoy exploring the interior of the wreck, but it's essential to be prepared for restricted visibility and potential hazards within. Free divers should avoid this site due to the depth and complexity of navigation.
