About this dive site
This dive site is the Tug 2 wreck, a former tugboat intentionally sunk in June 2013 to create an artificial reef. Originally resting on the sand, a storm in October 2016 shifted it, embedding it bow-first into a nearby reef. Navigating the wreck requires careful attention, as it is now partially embedded and broken. The dive involves exploring the wreck's structure, including the bridge, engine room (if accessible), and surrounding reef. The penetration of the wreck should be done by experienced divers.
Marine life is abundant around the Tug 2 wreck and adjacent reef. Divers can spot a variety of fish species, including Mediterranean sea bream, stingrays, moray eels, grouper, common octopus, cuttlefish, red starfish, and damselfish. The reef itself offers habitat for many other smaller reef inhabitants.
The best time to visit is during the warmer months (May to October) when water visibility is typically best and the weather is calmer. Stronger currents are possible depending on weather conditions. Divers should have appropriate training and experience for navigating the wreck and potential currents. Freediving is not recommended due to the depth and potential entrapment hazards within the wreck.
