About this dive site

This dive site is located in Guia Bay, Portugal, near the Guia Lighthouse. The dive starts on a white sand area, and then follows a reef extending southwest, ranging from 5 to 14 meters deep, though the maximum depth mentioned is 8 meters. Divers can explore the reef structure, navigating small passages and hovering above the reef. The dive is relatively straightforward, suitable for less experienced divers.

The marine life at Guia Bay is diverse, featuring schools of small bream and rockfish, as well as octopuses and shrimp found within the reef's crevices and walls. Flounder can be spotted camouflaged in the sand, and cuttlefish are also commonly encountered. While larger pelagic animals are not mentioned as frequently seen here, the diversity of smaller inhabitants makes it excellent for macro photography.

The best time to visit Guia Bay for diving is likely during the warmer months (spring and summer) when water temperatures are more comfortable and visibility is generally better. Calm conditions are more prevalent then, making it ideal for both scuba diving and freediving. Divers and freedivers should be mindful of the sand in some areas when exploring the reef and also that this is a shallower dive.
