This dive site, Pedra da Mula, is located less than 10 minutes from the port of Sesimbra, Portugal, near Ribeira do Cavalo beach. It's characterized by a distinctive rock formation resembling a mule, hence its name. The dive itself is relatively straightforward, featuring a sandy bottom interspersed with rocky areas and walls, making it ideal for exploring different levels and angles. Divers can navigate along the walls, observing the vibrant marine life and exploring some cavities in the easternmost part of the site.
The diverse marine life found at Pedra da Mula includes octopuses, bream, nudibranchs, salemas, and kingfish. The walls are teeming with colorful life and smaller creatures, great for macro photography. The sandy bottom provides a resting spot to enjoy some marine creatures. It is quite diverse ecosystem.
The best time to visit is during the warmer months, from spring to autumn (May to October), when water visibility is typically at its best.
