About this dive site
This dive site is named for a former navigation beacon, now replaced by a simple post. The seabed generally slopes from 5 to 10 meters deep, primarily on sand. This area offers a diverse underwater environment with significant rock formations, including a large central boulder and surrounding ridges, creating numerous swim-throughs and overhangs. The south face of the big rock features several deep crevices. The seaward end is quite sheer and includes a small cave. North of the big rock, there’s an extensive area of black mussel patches at 10 meters depth. Outer reefs boast large populations of Common feather stars alongside smaller numbers of Elegant feather stars. Perlemoen (abalone) are making a recovery with scattered small specimens. The site is rich in invertebrates and provides good photographic opportunities, especially for macro and wide-angle photography. Visibility is generally good, allowing for the capture of seaweed, fish, and colorful sessile fauna like anemones, sponges, and crinoids. The sand bottom can be somewhat loose and coarse, particularly towards the south.
