About this dive site
This dive site, Cathedral, is a popular location on Aliwal Shoal. It’s a remarkable amphitheater structure offering multiple entry points – through the large front archway, an opening in the roof, or a swim-through passage. The formation leads to a sheltered crater-like center, protected from strong currents and surges. This creates a visually stunning area frequently visited for observing ragged tooth sharks during their mating season. Divers can expect to encounter a variety of marine life including cuttlefish, moray eels, and other unique creatures – your dive master will be sure to point them out. The maximum depth at this site is 24 meters.
