About this dive site

This dive site, Komati Springs, offers a unique and challenging underwater experience. Located at an altitude of 915 meters above sea level, it features a substantial open water hole extending to 55 meters deep, connected to a complex cave system explored to a remarkable 186 meters. The cave system itself boasts eight interconnected levels, attracting technical divers worldwide. Training grids are available at depths of 5, 9, and 30 meters, facilitating skill development for exploring the underwater cliffs which provide excellent opportunities for multi-level dives. Temperature variations between seasons create distinct diving conditions: summer sees surface temperatures reaching 24°C (75°F) and a depth of 20°C (68°F) at approximately 30 meters, while the bottom remains cooler at 16°C (61°F). In winter, consistent temperatures from top to bottom range between 16°C and 17°C (61°F and 63°F), with visibility potentially reaching up to 40 meters. Visibility is generally around 10-15 meters.
