About this dive site
The MV Konanda is a 45-meter island trader that serves as an excellent introduction to wreck diving. After being damaged by Cyclone Uma in 1987, she was deliberately sunk to create a dive site. The ship now sits perfectly upright on a sandy bottom at 26 meters, with her derricks and rigging reaching up to within 10 meters of the surface, making her accessible even to snorkelers on the nearby reef. The Konanda was carefully prepared for divers, allowing for safe penetration into the holds, cabin, and bridge areas. This preparation makes it a fun and ideal site for newly certified wreck divers and a delight for wreck enthusiasts.
