About this dive site

This dive site, known as Fox Point Beach, offers a relaxing and accessible diving experience. Located in a semi-sheltered cove with a very easterly entry/exit point, the beach itself is sandy with scattered rocks. The site’s unique feature is its ease of access; you can park your car and directly enter the water. It sits 152 degrees SE from the beach, providing a clear view of the surrounding area. The bottom slopes gently and consistently, predominantly consisting of sand, with rocky outcrops appearing around 3 to 6 feet (1.83 meters), reaching a maximum depth of approximately 35-40 feet (10.67-12.9 meters). To the left, a rock wall serves as a breakwater, while the right side offers minimal visibility due to sand. The best diving occurs closer to the left shore, where a diverse aquatic ecosystem thrives. At low tide (approximately 10ft/3.05m), depths of 30-40ft (12.9m) are reachable. Surge and currents are generally mild, ranging from 10ft/3.05m to 20ft/6.1m depending on weather conditions. Water temperatures fluctuate seasonally, averaging between 33 degrees Fahrenheit in winter and 60 degrees Fahrenheit in the fall. The area is home to lobsters, crabs, flounder, sea perch, sand dollars, moon snails, and occasionally jellyfish and squid (especially in mid-July). Wolf fish may appear sporadically. This location provides a good training site for open water divers.
