About this dive site
This dive site offers a unique experience due to its location as a working fishing wharf. It’s maintained by East Coast Scuba & Watersports for Project Aware monthly cleanups, creating an interesting blend of natural and human activity. The site features two access points—a beach entry leading to sand that transitions into silt near the wharf area, and a jetty entry with sand and rocks. Maximum depths range from 5 feet to over 80 feet, potentially reaching 18.3 meters. Visibility can vary significantly depending on weather conditions – rain runoff, wind, and waves all play a role. Generally, visibility ranges from 9 to 12 meters. Be aware of boat traffic and potential encounters with fishing gear like lines and traps. Lobsters are common during warmer months, alongside other fish found in the area, reflecting Nova Scotia's diverse marine life. The wharf itself presents opportunities for observing discarded fishing items, such as gloves and hooks.
