About this dive site

This dive site, located in St Margaret’s Bay, Nova Scotia, offers a pleasant experience for divers of various skill levels. The majority of the dive area ranges from 10 feet to 30 feet (3 meters to 9.1 meters), providing accessible underwater exploration. For more experienced divers, it's possible to descend to approximately 60 feet (18.2 meters), though this requires a longer swim. Indian Cove is best avoided during strong northern or northeastern winds due to potential wave action and mild currents resulting from water movement into the cove. The entry point is easy with a gently sloping rocky beach, featuring small rocks, crushed stone, and scattered boulders; walking over to the island’s point offers an opportunity to reach depths of 60 feet (18.29 meters) at low tide. Divers can expect to encounter a variety of marine life, including lobsters, crabs, flounder, and occasionally seals. The bottom composition transitions from rocky terrain to sandy or silty areas, generally ranging from 4 feet (1.2 meters) to 60 feet (18 meters). Visibility varies depending on weather conditions – rain, wind, waves, tides, and the time of day – with typical ranges between 30 feet (9 meters) and 40 feet (12 meters). Boat traffic is a potential hazard, so be mindful. When removing any trash from the site, only remove items that your life bag can support. Remember to log any collected garbage on the Project Aware website or App.
