About this dive site
This dive site is located in Prospect, Nova Scotia, at Government Wharf. It’s a suitable location for divers of all levels, particularly those new to diving or preferring shorter trips. Parking can be limited, so carpooling is recommended. The site offers generally calm conditions and easy entry and exit, although low tides may present challenges. Much of the seabed around the wharf consists of silt, requiring careful navigation to avoid stirring up sediment. As the depth changes with the tide, exploring a short distance reveals sand and small rock formations. Historically, this area served as a busy fishing community, leaving behind artifacts such as old bottles, shoes, toys, and clay pipes – many cleanup dives have been undertaken to address these items. The average depth ranges from 4.75 meters (15 feet) to 7.62 meters (25 feet). Aquatic life includes crabs, flounder, lobster, and sculpin. Be aware of boat traffic at all times while diving.
