About this dive site

This dive site is located in Smuggler’s Cove, a sheltered cove just ten minutes south of central Meteghan, Clare NS. The cove is known for its history as a rum runner's location during Prohibition and offers an excellent shore diving experience for novice divers. It provides relatively shallow waters (typically up to 12 meters/36 feet at high tide), good visibility, and a gentle sloping bottom. The area features rocky shorelines, with a small cave accessible via the shoreline – though not suitable for extended dives. A variety of marine life, including minnows and crabs, can be found in this cove. Access involves stairs that require careful navigation due to ongoing renovations. Expect temperatures ranging from 1°C (33°F) in winter to 15°C (60°F) in fall. Due to the popularity of Smuggler’s Cove as a tourist attraction, please maintain respectful behavior.
