About this dive site

This dive site is located near Compass Point Dive Resort and bears the name of a settlement from 1662, marked on an old map. It offers a fascinating underwater experience with varied terrain and abundant marine life. The site features a pronounced ledge that drops to 50 feet, creating a distinct change in depth. Below this ledge, the seabed is covered in rubble, forming a thriving habitat for reef creatures. Keep an eye out for Yellow-Headed Jawfish, which can be observed feeding or tending to their burrows – they often spit out mouthfuls of sand as they do so. At 60 feet, divers will find a line of coral heads stretching east-west, providing opportunities for zigzagging explorations among stunning hard and soft coral formations. Smaller fish like Pike Blennies inhabit the sandy bottom; males are easily recognized by their territorial displays—opening their mouths and raising dorsal fins to reveal a black spot. Notably, there's a dedicated coral out-planting site with 30-foot PVC ‘trees’ supporting baby corals nurtured in a nearby nursery. These structures have become favored hangouts for larger fish, who often observe the ongoing maintenance efforts. This site provides an engaging and educational dive experience.
