About this dive site
This dive site presents the wreck of the MV Karwela, a passenger ferry that sank in August 2006. Located on the southeast coast of Gozo, approximately 70 meters from the entry point, it offers an intriguing dive for experienced divers. The vessel, launched in 1957 and used as a ferry since 1986, has a large structure providing access from multiple points. Due to the nearby rocky shoreline, accessing the site can be challenging. The wreck itself is remarkably well-preserved and sits at a depth ranging from 32 to 40 meters. Nearby, there is also the MV Cominoland, a ferry used for tourist excursions to the island of Comino, which was intentionally sunk in August 2006 to create an artificial reef. Visibility around this area can be excellent.
