About this dive site
This dive site, Knife Rock, is a popular location for divers near Pigeon Island Marine Park in Sri Lanka. It offers a diverse range of underwater experiences, characterized by contrasting environments on either side of the rock formation. To the south, you’ll find rocky coral formations and abundant reef fish. Be alert for octopus and pufferfish that occasionally inhabit this area. Swimming north reveals boulder formations and more coral, creating habitats for various moray eel species in a range of colors. Keep an eye out for small shrimp cleaning anemones – a sight that might warrant a second look! A unique aspect of Knife Rock is the presence of relics from past conflicts; undetonated mortar strikes dot the seabed. Visibility can vary depending on conditions. This location provides a captivating dive experience with a blend of marine life and historical intrigue.
